Hi Ken,
I was told you might be able to help me. I am trying to hook up head phones for my 1973 sho bud professional with an 1966 ampeg amp. My new wife like my steel but I would like to be able play it anytime I want to. So, How do I set the headphones so that she can't here me and I can still hear myself play?
thanks,
Skip

Get a pair of practice headphones from Bobbe Seymour at Nashville Steel Guitars, they are well worth the $39 or $49 I paid for them, can't remember.

I agree with Gene, if it a tube amp. Unless you have a preamp output and a power amp input, I would not try it. A tube amp can loose an output transformer with the speakers disconnected! Fender used a shorting jack on the main speaker jack to protect against an accidently unplugged speaker. The dead short on the transformers secondary might cause a fuse to blow, but it would save the transformer primary windings.

If you can land a Peavey Transtubefex you would have it made. All the effects you would ever want and a stereo headphone jack!!
