? for Tube Work MosValve 1500

Post by Larry Wallace »

I have a Tube Works 1500 amp. Can I run a 4ohm on one side and an 8ohm on the other side with out hurting it? Would I get a different sound? If so what would sound better two 8ohm, two 4ohm or an 8ohm & a 4ohm.

The mfgr says that an 8ohm load will produce a 'more musical' result. (either in the manual or on the back of the amp -- can't remember which)

You can run that amp with NO LOAD on one side, so, no, it's not going to damage the amp to use speakers with different impedence on each side.

As for what it'll sound like, I'm with Earnest -- you're never gonna know until you try it.
