Do any of you use this tuner? I've been meaning to buy a VS-1 for some time now. However, I just saw that the new VS-2 has now been released and it's got pre-set modes for both E9 and C6 steel guitar tunings.

All the reviews of these that I've seen have been very positive, but I still haven't tried one in person.

They are quite expensive ($199 at musicians friend). I'm still planning on getting one soon.

I'm interested in this too, since I just got my first steel and currently only have a couple of those cheap quick-tune type tuners. I was looking primarily at the VS-I because it's only $169 at Musician's Friend, but I didn't realize the $199 VS-II had the pedal steel presets (I thought you had to get the more expensive Peterson V-SAM for those). So in addition to reading people's feedback on these tuners in general, I'm wondering if having those presets is worth the $30 price difference.

Thanks,
Doug

You might want to skim:

I have the V-SAM and love it, although I only use the preset for E9 and still choose to tune C6 straight up.

Well, I just ordered a VS-II from Musician's Friend online. It was $199 with free shipping and it comes with a free TP-1 Tuner Pickup.

I think the VS-II should be good enough for my purposes and it's $50 cheaper than the V-SAM.

I'll post more once I've been able to play around with it.

The Peterson Tuners booth was the first one I saw as I entered the ISGC this weekend, and I was thrilled to be able to get a demo and product info from John Norris before buying. He was quite helpful when it came to deciding which model I needed (VS-II or V-SAM). So, long story short, I purchased the VS-II for $199. Just got home and haven't had a chance to put it to the test yet, but I'm convinced it'll suit my needs just fine.
