i just got a evans fet500 small cab. amp with the eclipse speaker and i am having a real hard time finding a good sound when used in conjunction with the hilton pedal. Its just real thin and shrill on the high strings.I have fooled with all the controls and switches and cant seen to dial it in after days of trying.I was wondering if these two are not so good together because both seem to accentuate the highs. Anyone else have/had this problem? I am playing a fessy w/ 910's on it
thanks, trap

I run the same combination, and I feel I have great tone. Have you adjusted the small tone pot on the pedal? Counter-clockwise will add more lows.

I agree with the above. Set your amp controls flat (in the middle of each tone control). Then adjust the tone control on the bottom of the pedal until you get the best tone you can get. Then don't touch that control again, but do any fine tuning of tone with the amp controls. If that doesn't work, do as Buddy Emmons once suggested, take a hammer and beat the tone controls completely off. It wont sound any better, but you'll feel much better immediately.

I'm using a Hilton pedal with my FET 500 and I have no problems. I left the tone setting on my pedal like it came from the factory and on the 500, the bass is on 8, body is on 9 and bass is on 2. With the ole push pull, it just don't get any better Smile

It sounds like there's a problem somewhere. Your Hilton should sound clean and warm with that setup. Troubleshoot your cables first. If you have the George L's cables, check the ground screws.

it seems everything on this amp is very interactive. If you have you sound somewhat set and you turn the treble down it seems to effect the mids real bad.I cant seem to get rid of this real middy sound. I turned the tone knob on the vol. pedal down and it helped the highs a little but the high strings still really jump out at you.I even put a BW 1502 in it today and it seem to change the sound a little but added a thicker mid sound . I have a dual preamp around the same year and it sounds wonderful. Might just be this amp.
