I'm playing through a portable mixer, a Rolls Playmate MX56s to power my in-ear monitors. This has an instrument out jack that I send to my Nash 400 through my Deltafex. Problem is, my levels coming out of the mixer and effects are so low, I'm having to turn my amp up really high just to be heard by (not even OVER) the rest of the band. It's not even helping to mic the amp and run into the board. I'm playing with the steel flat (no effects) in my monitors and then running that into my Deltafex, then into the amp from there. Do I need a pre-amp maybe to cut down on having to crank the amp? I'm getting a pretty nasty 60hz hum just from having to turn the amp up too much. Would a Profex II help me with its pre-amp?

It's starting to get frustrating, because the lead player keeps telling me "man, you gotta fix your rig, dude." when it's partly his playing so loud that made me get the in-ear monitors in the first place. Then he says "Brother, my amp's only on THREE." Jeezus! He could cut a hole in frickin CONCRETE if he turned it up to 5...

That's not his fault, I know that the Nashville 400 is a pretty stout amp, and should be blowing down the doors at the level it's on right now. I'm just wondering how I can make this work with the current setup I have, and although I don't know what I'm talking about, It seems I need some sort of pre-amp. If I could get that and effects in one rack-space, then I guess I need the Profex.

Sorry for the long post.
Thanks in advance!

Garnett

On second thought, maybe I'll just fiddle with this a while. If I could get a split instrument cord, I could take my effects right from the back of the profex and split, one side going to the monitor mixer, and the other side going to the amp, it would sound just like before, correct? Can I use the "right" output channel on the profex to get a signal, even though there's nothing plugged into the "right" input channel?

There's hope for me yet! I'd be a better plumber than an electrician... (hot on the left, cold on the right, Crap don't flow uphill)

Welp, sorry to bother y'all. I figured it out, and it works. I guess I just needed to talk my way through it to answer my own question. HAHA WATCH OUT RANDY, IM GONNA CUT YOU IN HALF! with my amp on 3.

I'm just running from my volume pedal into the "mono" jack on the deltafex. Then, a short 3" instrument cable from the "right" output channel to the mixer, and the regular "mono" output to the amp. Sounds great! Y'all oughtta see the rig, I've got the mixer "zip tied" to the side of the deltafex, so it's "rackmount engineered" to fit. Still have space for something else in there too, (rack tuner COUGH COUGH)

I guess you can remove this thread if you want... I was just too tired last night during practice to actually think things through.
