Here's an easy-for-someone-other-than-me question:

The middle neck of my T8 stringmaster has an audible hum when I switch to it. The other necks do not. Adjusting the blend control for the pickups doesn't seem to make a difference.

Help please on likely scenarios.

I have had that problem, too. I have 2 T8's. One is a project and the other is original.

First guess...The necks should be grounded one to another. Check that.
Do both pickups on the problem neck work? Be sure the pickups are not the cause.
Maybe neck selctor switch.

If you need a schematic, check forumite John Tipka's website on Stringmasters. Very thorough and a great reference. (search for John's name under no peddlers)

Carefully remove the pickup assembly and you
will see the pickups sitting in aluminum foil
If this foil is not completly in its proper
place or missing, that may be your problem.

Careful when touching the foil,,if you see it is missing look at the way the other necks
are isolated and follow those. I'm almost certain that is the problem. Its not brain surgery. The neck that has the hum is shorting out.Not properly grounded..

Also to add to what Jody said.
There is a ground wire that is stapled to the body underneath that pickup plate; make sure its attached and maybe in came loose.

Thanks guys; investigative non-invasive surgery forthcoming.
