I received the following email from Cris Linscott. Can anyone in the UK offer assistance? I'm not sure what he needs yet.

Hi - I wondered whether you might be able to help - I live in the UK and have just got hold of an old Gibson Dual 8 console (C 520/530) - I'm trying to lay my hands on any literature/wiring specs etc that will help me service the console - I've done a load of research on the internet but
without joy... theres precious little support for this kind of instrument over here - I've used many of the links from your useful and informative site (that was how I was able to identify it) but can't find what I'm looking for - this limey would appreciate any direction you might give him
- regards - Cris
Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much for this - I can get access to a machine with Autocad 2002 on it so yes please to your offer of the schematic - I won't claim to be a great electronics wizard but have wired guitars in the past...
These consoles are new to me (haven't had mine delivered as yet - it's not in the best condition but seems that a good clean and service would sort it) - I'm still not absolutely sure its a 520 or a 530; I've seen similar described as a Dual 8. What I do know is that its a yellow/mustard colour - I don't even know what species the body wood is!
I'm really new to all of this 8 string stuff having been playing slide on a converted Taylor flat top acoustic mainly in D, G and DADGAD (early Kelly Joe Phelps style) so the forum has been a positive boon.... I've no doubt that I'm going to be all fingers and thumbs with the extra strings (and neck!) but I know the forum is packed with advice & knowledge - I'll speak to Basil too.
I've an interest in design and the history of things too which is why I'm trying to source copies/photocopies/scans of any original manuals or leaflets for the Gibson range - I have to be honest and say that my decision to go for a Gibson was after seeing a Console Grand; the design, aesthetics ....well, one day. For the time being I'm in research & learn mode.
Once again thanks for your help - I'll post an edit of this mail to the forum - regards
Cris
PS - have just had my email reply to you bounced back by your ISP.... my address appears to be blacklisted by the spam filter! I've taken this up in the past with my ISP as I've been the victim of "domain spoofing" where a charmless individual uses, in my case the waterlands.co.uk address,to bulk mail... makes it look like its my domain thats spamming.... irritating, like those who write viruses... rant over.

Cris,
I sent a picture and the drawing in both .dwg and .dxf forms.
Hope they came through OK.
