Fender Volume Tone Pedal scratchy

The tone pot in my Fender VT pedal has gotten scratchy and it appears to be a sealed pot. I'm afraid if I take this thing apart to replace the pot I'll never get it back together. Any suggestions ? Is there a repair person out there for these units (I think my factory warranty expired in '63). Is there a method for cleaning the pot that soesn't involve taking the unit apart ?
