case for my Georgeboards lap 8

Can anyone steer me to a case ( gun maybe ? ) or strong gig bag manufacturer for my new Georgeboards lap 8 ?
It's 33/12" X 6 " X 31/2"

Did you check with George Piburn about a case? Several months ago he emailed me about hooking up with a person making cases for him. He seemed to impressed with the quality and design.

Mike , thanks for the reply and info. I checked out the Yahoo pictures link and contacted Rob yesterday. I e-mailed Chuck at DC Case too since he made a couple of road cases for me last year. Denny , the person George in his message to me this morning recommended was also Rob Anderson

Hi Guys,
George usually offers a very expensive watertight Pelican case or mine with his guitars.
I've got a template for his hula shape for a full form fit case as well as the dimensions for his consoles, which would have a leg compartment on the hinge side.
There's only enough of the classic GeorgeBoards "Grape Delite" lacquered fabric left for a couple more cases! This fabric is pictured somewhere on George's site as well as at the photo link that Mike posted.
At that link there's an exterior shot of a GeorgeBoards console case entitled "mcadden"
All the photos called "gb..." are from a pre-form fit Hula case.

Congratulations on your purchase Kevin, those are wonderful instruments.

Well then, ...ask me. I've seen enough shipping damage to not send anything that the monkey motion of an insurance claim won't satisfy, unless it's packed like or similar to George's suggestions. ------- "Uncalled for" insinuates deliberance; And I feel sure that was not George's style nor intent at all. I would surmise that Andy would want people to learn from his experience; I would.

No biggie Mike. You could very well be right. But I'm sure George had no ill nor careless intent, ...and all good intent. It's just innocent words. Ain't our human natures amusing!

Now for the Booger: I've got a number of Lap Steel cases packed away in the shop; Antique, vintage and a couple of new SKB's; But things here are still in such a remodeling construction disarray ... and will continue for at least another couple of weeks ... that I can't even get to them nor have a vacant table to pack/ship them, ....so can't even provide that suggestion / help for Kevin!

You might find a gun or keyboard case locally, that is worthy of yer GB. I personally like the high-impact plastic ones with heavy panels of foam rubber inside or pluck-out foam rubber, that can be easily trimmed with a box-cutter for custom fits. I HIGHLY recommend making a cloth barrier or slip cover to put an instrument in before storing it in a bare-foam lined case. I guess we've all seen aged foam flake off into a powder, and also seen allot of foam that's abrasive. Protective bags for lap steels can be easily made from the leg of an old pair of Blue Jeans ...available cheap and in assorted sizes at local Salvation Army / Goodwill / Thrift stores. Hem one end and put a draw string in the other end. Even a beach towel or military surplus blanket works well, laid into a bare-foam lined case's cavity and doubled back over the instrument.

Do a Google search for Mooradian.They make high quality gig bags.I use them on my electric and upright basses,and took one of their keyboard cases and made it into a gig bag for my Williams S-10 keyless.

I was in a rush my last posting here, and didn't have time to add that a blue jean bag can be hemmed at the open end for a leather bootlace drawstring. Also, when the closed end and drawstring hems are being made, a padding can be sandwiched between two blue jean leg bags making one padded bag. Currently I have a GeorgeBord kept in a blue jean bag that has a separate army blanket bag I put it in before putting it in the blue jean bag; And a quilt or packing blanket inner bag would work even better. I have made the padded versions in the past and they work well and look nice. Pockets on the side are also easy to make cutting enough around snaps to sew those snap "patches" into the pockets; And jean jackets and some farming overalls have snap pockets that can be cut out and "patched" onto the geetar bag. One of these days I'm going to try to make one with high quality foam block sides, bottom and end piece with a flap that fastens down.

I know this may sound crazy or nuts?? but I have used the Plastic Arrow Cases purchased from a sporting goods store for guitars that are shapped like the Little Roy Wiggins Morrell steels, they fit so nice in those. If you live near a decent sporting goods store, check it out, the ones I bought were under $20.00, so thats a great price on a case. With a little work you can line one of those & really have a nice case for your lap steel.
