Hey guys, I've got a Korg AT-12 that started acting flaky on me a year or so ago. I went to a Korg GT-12, but, I liked the AT-12 better. The problem is, not all of the note indicator LED's work and sometime it just turns off.

thanks
David

OK, well I got adventurous and started poking around inside the tuner myself. It seems that the little LED panel may have a broken trace somewhere. I know this was probably a stupid thing to do, but, I tried flexing the LED panel just a little bit and all of the LED's started working. The traces on this thing are so small, I can't even tell which one it may be. Does anyone know where I might be able to get this part?

Thanks
David

David.....

If you will send it to me(pre-paid both directions), I will fix it for you.
Based upon your discription, you are right. A broken trace seems to be your problem.

Sometimes tho,The cost of sending a unit somewhere is more than the cost of a replacement item. Tuners are somewhat small in cost to replace.

E-mail me if you decide to send the unit to me. My e-mail address is:

crookwf@comcast.net

Bill:

Can you fix my 1978 vintage Korg WT-12?

I've been hanging onto it even though I have two other pretty good tuners. I loved the accuracy of the WT-12 and the octave select feature. (I don't know what's wrong with it. It just won't work anymore--batteries aren't the problem.)

E-mail me at jrussel7@austin.rr.com.

Thanks Bill, I've got the part ordered from Parts & Parts. Since I'm not a Korg dealer or authorized service center, that's who Korg referred me to to get it fixed. I should be able to replace that OK. I desoldered it to get the part number off the under side and I put it back in and it still works. Hopefully my luck will be as good when I get the new part!

Thanks again!
David

It's fixed, at least I think so. I haven't tried it out yet, but I did install the new LED panel and all of the lights work now. The problem with it just turning off ended up being the tabs for the batteries. I guess over time they lost some of their springiness (is that even a word??? ) Anyway, I bent them out just a bit and for now it that has cured the problem. I wonder how hard it would be to replace those little tabs with actual springs like you see in most battery compartments?
