Is there a difference in the circuitry and tone in the old Standel Custom and the Custom 24 amps? The Custom 24 had two 12" speakers. I plan on using the single 15" if I buy it. I'm looking at one and wondered if anyone here might know.

Frank,
I believe that the answer is that Bob Crooks experimented so often that two amps with the SAME MODEL NUMBER AND YEAR can be different.

I play through two Custom 15's, both made in 1970, and, even though they sound very similar, the values of the caps and other components are different from one amp to the other. In any case, a push-pull through stereo Standels is my idea of steel guitar heaven!

I believe that the Custom amps were the same basic design. The Custom 15 had a single 15" (usually) Altec and the 24 had two 12's.
