Any idea what type speaker? Maybe the 1203-4 Black Widow??

Well, now that the "cat is out of the bag", I am at liberty to inform you that we have had numerous inquiries and requests through the years about designing and manufacturing a small rehearsal amplifier for steel. I believe that this amp would work well for fiddle and guitar as well. As you know, I have tested many of our "non steel" amplifiers and given an honest opinion on this Forum of what they sounded like when using a steel guitar. Well, the Nashville 112 sounds really good as it includes all of the "past feature requests" and we managed to make it small, inexpensive and extremely portable.
Now, I'm pleased that we are at a point where we can offer this amp at a reasonable price. There are many players who never play their steel anywhere but in their bedroom and this is one of the markets that we are persuing with this model. This is also an amp that you can take to a small jam or warm up with backstage before your performance.
Visit us at the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree beginning March 6th and ending on March 9th and drop by the Peavey Demo Booth.

This is interesting news, Mike. Would you expect the new amp to deliver a tone comparable to the big Peaveys? I'm wondering if it would work in a theatre environment where I'm sending a feed to the sound-desk.
I love the thought of a low-weight steel amp!

The Nashville 112 is an all analog amplifier and the Nashville 1000 has an analog preamp with a digital power amp. One is rated at 80 watts and one is rated at 300 watts.
Our intention is to satisfy two different types of players, ie; bedroom and pro players.
We build the same quality into all of our products. Both models are designed using some of the same components, so they both meet our strict quality standards.
I'm not a C6th player, but I am required to play some basic Hank,Sr. licks on C6th occassionally and the speaker reproduces it well without breakup. So, since we used a 12" speaker, some may think that it wouldn't handle the signal, but it will. Peavey Endorser Jerry Brightman turned this amp up to 10 at Scotty's and floored it and it did not give at all!
This type of amp will work very well in a low volume level application where you can send your signal to front of house.

Peavey's answer to me regarding this question was that they were not sure about possible European availability but that it shouldn't be a problem.
Peavey indicated that the Nashville 112 could be made available in Europe since it doesn't face the certification problems the 1000 does(COST). The power amp is an analog type that I believe is already being shipped in another model.

Will you be able to run an extention 15"BW
to get the lows? If so, it looks like what I've been looking for.Will it be available with 15" speaker?

At this time, the amp does have an extension speaker output. This could change, but it's not probable. The internal 12" speaker is an 8 ohm and you will be able to connect an external 8 ohm, for a total of 4 ohms. This is minimum load for the full 80 watts.
Don't forget that you can also use the PRE AMP OUT to drive an PX300 powered enclosure, which is still available.
Bill Ford, this model is being marketed as a small rehearsal amp. Eighty watts is insufficient for a live application when other bandmembers are performing. We decided against a 15" speaker with this model as it would increase the overall weight of the amp. The heavy duty 12" will handle both E9th and C6th at lower levels. This is not meant to be a "pro" level amplifier, however we didn't cheapen the quality of the parts and construction of the amp. It will last you for years to come.
If we meet all of our deadlines, you will probably see this model in stores by mid summer. |
