I've noticed that a lot of steel players use digital delay stomp boxes that have a "tap tempo" feature. I just love my Lexicon MPX-100 rack unit, but there are times when I don't want to haul around the rack. The Lexicon has MIDI sync, which I connect to the drummer's metronome. That works better for me than tapping the tempo.

Do any of these popular stomp boxes have MIDI sync capability?

Bruce, if this is what you're talking about, it doesn't appear to have delay. I think that MIDI is just for selecting patches.

Hmmm... This page mentions "tempo-synced digital delay". I was thinking of a simple delay stomp box, but the AdrenaLinn is more of a POD-like solution. Looks interesting...

Am I just dreaming? Seems that there should be such a thing in the $100-$200 price range.

The Boss DD-5 has a tap-tempo feature but it is not midi. It requires a momentary contact foot switch. I use it and it really isn't a big deal to set the tempo this way.

The AdrenaLinn is an amazing unit, with a great midi synched delay. Also the best envelope filter on the market, and awesome time synched effects that need to be heard to be understood. It;s the only effect I use these days, other than with country gigs, where I will also drag along a Holy Grail reverb pedal. The key to this unit is to turn off all the amp simulations on the presets, becuase the amp stuff sounds horrible. This thing is invaluable for techno gigs (seriously, I have been playing with these guys www.siamesebeat.com and this puppy comes in real handy).
