I've got a Goodrich 120 volume pedal and want to put a new volume pot in it. I've never taken this pedal apart, so I have no idea what kind of potentiometer to use. I've been told to use a 250K ohm Allan Bradley type, like you'd see in a Telecaster, but I really don't know.
I would, however, like to get a shorter curve to the volume swell. This one seems to have quite a long taper, from zero to full blast. I'd like it to be a bit quicker. Thanks.

The 500K pot is what Goodrich recommends for their 120 volume pedal. You can call Goodrich in Michigan at 231-893-5702 for info. Also, I think they can sell you the pots directly if you want. We also sell the Goodrich 500K pots, as do many dealers.
Hope that helps...

The 250K pot does have a quicker taper, but as hard as the 500K AB pots are to find, I don't know where you'd find a 250K AB pot.
Most pots offered these days are by Clarion, which is supposed to be a direct replacement, but there have been many postings saying they don't last very long at all. |

Be careful when using anything less than a 500K pot in your passive volume pedal. The 250K will probably load your signal down and you'll start to lose part of your tone. It may sound like someone has put a thin bedsheet or pillowcase over your amp. I found this out the hard way, and would not go with anything less than a 500K from now on.
Also, I'd make sure the pot has an audio taper. I tried a linear taper one time and didn't like it, but I seem to remember a post from one forumite who sees little difference, so to each his own.

Jay Ganz referred me to MALCOLM KIRBY
