It takes a certian kind, and the one I am using now is wrong you have to hit it twice to start and twice to stop, and that is not right on click it what it is supposed to use can I get some help out there.
Thanks Bill

Bill,
You require a normally open momentary contact switch. Your drum machine is started and stopped by the closing of a switch. The switch you have is closed when you step on it and opened when you step on it again. Thats why you have to hit it twice. I have a couple of different brands that I use. One is a Boss FS-5U, the other is a MPM PS-25. Both of these allow you to choose normally open or normally closed. A music store should have what you need, but if you tell them that you want a normally open momentary contact footswith you might just recieve a blank stare. Take your machine with you to make sure whatever they sell you works.

Bill you can allso build a simple foot switch using those momentary switch salvaged out of broken VCR's and such.I just used hot melt glue to stick the switch down on the board, then used a old credit card duck taped down to create a pedal with a little spring to it....this thing is southern enginering at its best but it works fine for me .I made one that has a on/off and fill a/b switch, i allso installed a extra female jack out for a secondary switch board so the bass player can start stop the machine if my feet are tied up on the steel
