Mike,
On the back at the speaker plug is stamped
210watts
4 ohms
26vrms
(Session 400 limited)ser.# OA04496307
Would it be safe to use a 4ohm headphone
instead of the speaker for private practice?
Also mfg. date.
Thanks.........Bill Ford

Bill....
As a Electronics Tech,I have seen this tried far too many times. Believe me when I say "You will burn out the headset within a few moments." any volumne level at all is TOO MUCH !!
These headsets arn't designed for the 200 watt output levels of poweramps. The output jack of these amps is stright from the amp to the speaker. The headphone jack of your tapeplayer, radio recevier,T.V. all have a 600 ohm pad built in the jack circuit !!
My 02cents, for what its worth.

Bill....
If you are comfortable with doing small circuit building, or have a friend that dose such, I will send you a circuit design that will allow you to use your earphones without damageing them. I use it all the time and haven't burnt out a set of RS "cheapies" yet.
This circuit is designed to be pluged into the speaker out jack of the amp.
Let me know and I will draw it up and get it to you.

To Bill Crook. Hey Bill, I guess you're thinking of an "L" pad. Is there some place a guy can buy them nowadays? Radio Shack no longer stocks them.

Jim.....
My curcuit design is NOT an L-pad as thought of in the general sence.....
The values of the conponnets are much higher values than one would think. The circuit is not ajustable with any pots or such. Only a fixed value conponnets.
Guys..... I haven't had time yet to do a good drawing of this yet, but will do so ina few days. |

I don't recommend that you connect your headphones to any speaker output other than a headphone amplifier output. Connecting the phones to a high wattage amp would only damage the headphones, but most importantly, it may severely damage your hearing as well due to the very close proximity of the speakers to your ears. The speakers in a headphone set are made to handle a very small amount of power and the speaker in your amp is made to handle higher amounts of power.
