Hey, guys (and gals). I just joined the forum yesterday and am really looking forward to being a part of this wonderful group. This is my first posting and I have a questions that I have been wondering about for some time. My Evans amp reads "FET 500, Custom LV. Am I correct in assuming that the LV stands for Low Voltage? The amp does not have any jacks for effects sends or returns, just one jack on the back for an external speaker. The serial number is 8258 and there is a decal on the back that says Texarkana, TX as the place it was mfg. Thanks for clearing this up for me and I enjoy reading everybody's posts.

Hi George and welcome. You are correct that LV means low voltage.
I know that Evans has had several different eras. Mine (# 7023) is labeled Shreveport. Someone will no doubt be along to tell you something more about yours. |

Hello George, welcome to the Forum. I haven't seen you since the Knoxville Jam a few years ago. As other's have stated, you are right, LV stands for Low Voltage and the "FET" stands for "Field Effect Transistor", which is which is why "High Voltage" isn't necessary as opposed to the Tube Type or High Voltage Evans. Some players like the High Voltage Evans Amps better than the Low Voltage Evans Amps. I have a FET 500 LV that I purchased from Darrell Stephens in 1993 new, and it has the Send and Return Jacks/Instrument Input 1 and 2 on the front, and a pre-amp out/volume control/speaker Jack on the back the S/N is 8913. I like my Evans Amp. Good to know you will be sharing your knowledge of Steel Guitar on here with everyone.
