I just bought a new roland GR-33 with 6 string GK-2 pickup. I am debating weather to use it on 6 strings of the steel (U12) or on my tele.
If I use it on the steel, which 6 strings should I cover?
I intend to use it for mostly pads with some light melody stuff with flute, organ, piano or steel drums.
Any experience with using a 6 string synth pickup???
TIA

Six string guitar spacing is wider than pedal steel string spacing. That would require you to angle the pickup so the pole pieces line up with the strings. That would put one end or the other further away from the bridge which will negatively affect tracking.
That said, I'd probably use it on strings 3-8. |

Larry,
I'm curious as to how this will work out. Roland says not to put it on a steel guitar, but I see no reason why it won't work. Keep us informed. If anyone else has tried it, I would like to know how it worked for them. |
