On the back of the Webb I have two speaker jacks. It says 2-4-8. I'm assuming that means I can run any combination of speakers as long as it is a 2,4, or 8 ohm load. If you run a 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker, is that 6 ohms, and does it hurt the amp?
I plugged in an 8 ohm EVM 12L along with the 4 ohm JBL E-130.It sounded great and darn near blew the roof off. The EVM by itself was almost as loud as the JBL.

Thanks Dave

The impedence of a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm speaker in parallel is 2.67 ohms.

Z= (Z1 X Z2) divided by (Z1 + Z2)

Z= (8 X 4) divided by (8 + 4)

Z= 32/12= 2.67 Ohms

Dave,
You're fairly safe with a 4 & 8 ohm
combination. It's 4 & 4 that would really
put a strain on the amp. I've got
EVM-15L's in both of mine & you're right,
they are incredible speakers! They actually
have more low end punch than the JBL E-130.
The highs are the same, but the EV's
don't have that harsh upper midrange thing
the JBL's are noted for.

The Webb is designed to use two 4 ohm JBL's safely (2 ohm load). Webb made matching extension cabinets to hold the second speaker. The configuration boosts the output from 225 watts to 300 watts RMS.

Bobby,

I recently bought the matching extension speaker cabinet for my Webb from Jimmy.
And, the sound from that system is absolutely
scary!

He doesn't give them away, but, they're
worth every penny to me.
