what's best for me may not suit you.

so "best" is a subjective term.

but having said that, I will say I like these:

BF or SF Twin Reverb Amp, with Stock 2x12" speakers

http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/twin_reverb_sf.html

BF or SF Twin Reverb Amp retrofitted with a JBL D-130-F 15"

Vibrosonic Reverb (SF '72-'81) essentially a Twin Reverb with a "from the factory" 15" speaker. There was a later version of this (95-96) Called a VibrAsonic that was a nice amp too

http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/vibrosonic_reverb_sf.html

Some folks even like the later Master Volume equipped SF Twin Amps... guitarist not so much 'cause they are brutally clean- which is why a Steeler might like one.

Music Man made a 2x12" combo that with something like 100w ,works great for steel ( I think Jody Carver has one)

I am also fond of BF Bassman Amps with 2x12" closed back cabinets

and my 73 Vibrolux (2x10") is great for it's weight.

A SF Dual Showman Reverb matched to a 15" would be cool too. maybe with a Tremolux cabinet with it too...

I can't decide for myself, how am I supposed to tell you which is "best"?

(although I do indeed love my 68 Twin with the JBL)

I tried Bassmans with the 2x12's, Dual Showmans, Super Reverbs, SF Twins w/master volume, and a 65 Re-Issue Twin. I like the 65 the best. I use it most of the time with the factory 12's in it. Once in awhile I plug in a 1-15BW cabinent and run with it. Anyway go for the re-issue. IMHO

Ok,Iwill make this a little bit other.
What amp would you choose for steelguitar?
1. Fender `65 Twin Reverb 2 12" Jensen
Replica Speakers 85 watt, or
2. The Twin amp 100 watt, 2 12" Speaker ?
The `65 is in the price much cheaper.
I find a Shop here in Germany that have
a outstanding price for that Amp
(350 $ lower than all others )
Have anyone played both of them ?
What is the sound difference between boths ?
I think for normal electricguitar sounds both
fantastic,but what is with steel.
I will buy one and only choose the rigth one.

Thanks for the input
Wolfgang

Wolfgang,
My vote would be for the Twin Reverb. That is, if you don't need all the distortion stuff that comes with "The Twin". Cheaper and it looks better!

I liked what Lloyd Green used to have. An early Twin Reverb with Lansing speakers. I am not sure what year the Twin was made.

In fact I have always felt the tone Lloyd got using that set up was the most pleasing to my ears.

All Fenders are not created equal. I would base my purchase on how each one sounds.

Without hearing them I would be leaning towards the old twin. Its cheaper and has a bigger coolness factor.

Musicman amps are real nice also.
