Another ? for Mike Brown

Post by marley hay »

Mike, my mid-80's Nashville 400 has an annoying habit(recent) of cutting out, kind of the loose wire type of thing, when it's first turned on.This is an intermittant problem and always goes away after a minute or two? The Lemay page said that these amps sometimes develop this when an output transistor screw gets loose. What do you think. Thanks in advance,Marley
[This message was edited by marley hay on 14 March 2001 at 07:53 AM.]

Have you tightened the screw to see if that fixes it? Image Most intermittant problems with Peaveys that I see here are related to the loose Molex connector where the reverb wires attach to the chassis.

Jim, I am unfortunately electronically challenged.I will check the reverb connection, but will have to find the component in the schematic before I can do anything else.Thank you for your input. That could be a leaky coupling capacitor in one of the preamp stages. They will act up for a bit when turned on and can be noisy then after voltage has been on for a while it will clear up.

You'll either have to send it to Peavey or take it to a qualified tech to have that fixed as it will take a bit of troubleshooting to isolate the capacitor, if it is the problem.
