Another question for Mike Brown

Post by Ronnie Vaughn »

On my last gig my nashville 400 started acting up, the compressor light comes on and the amp starts buzzing. when I turn the reverb off it stops, I turn it back up play awhile and it does iy again. My volume is only at about 3-4 so I dont think overdriving is the problem it may be in the reverb. Can you shed some light on this for me there are no good tech guys around my area that I know of, any help greatly appreciated.. RV...

Disconnect the reverb I/O (molex) connector and spray some contact cleaner on both halves and then reconnect it. This is usually the problem. The I/O connector is located on the chassis and you may have to take the top rear cover off to get at it.

In some severe cases you may have to CAREFULLY bend one of the female pins SLIGHTLY (make it smaller) because it's not making good contact.

Jack is a very knowledgable tech when it comes to Peavey amp repairs. That's exactly what our amp tech suggests. Thanks Jack.

Thanks guys, that fixed the problem. Boy that little molex was some kind of corroded up, and hard to clean too. Again thanks for the help it sure is nice to have good people like you share your knowledge with fellow steel players.. Merry Christmas to you all. RV..
