I have an early 80s Sho-Bud LGD with what appears to be a stock single coil pickup. Yesterday while doing some undercarriage maintenance I noticed a loose wire (one end is connected at the bridge) dangling near the input jack, maybe a ground wire. Here is how the input jack is wired. There is one wire that runs from the pickup to the input jack and it is soldered to a prong on one side of the jack. Another shorter wire is soldered in at the same prong and runs to the other side of the input jack where it is soldered to an identical prong. The loose wire that I am talking about is connected to the bridge but the other end has become disconnected. The steel sounds fine except for a noticable hum at high volume levels. Is this suppose to be a ground wire that has worked loose and if so can anyone help me with the correct location to reconnect the loose end.
