One of my friend's IVL SteelRider conversion unit (the rack mounted part) has died. Can anyone suggest a repair shop with experience fixing these? Does anyone have a schematic? Would someone with a broken pickup consider selling their unit or the whole system?
Thanks in advance!

Jim,
You might consider getting in touch with Dave Van Allen on this Forum. I believe he is an IVL SteelRider fan.
Cheers

I don't know what "died" means in this case;It may be as simple as a battery replacement..."simple" as in pulling it apart and possibly resoldering a new battery to the main board... beyond that there is little hope that I have found. IVL was less than helpful when I sought schematics for my unit, and if you think that's a drag try and get a pickup fixed...
even Bill Lawrence essentially refused to make me one- reverse engineering my existing PU...of course his reasons were that it would be less than perfect to his exacting standards of the way he thinks it should have been designed in the first place...
all I want is one (PU) that works.
if anyone DOES know a source for service on these units PLEASE let me know too

He's had his regular repair shop look at it and it's definitely more than a battery. I'm hoping someone will have gotten tired of trying to find a replacement pickup and would like to sell their unit. I might even be interested in an extra one myself.
I have a few feelers out as do some others trying to get someone to make replacement pickups for the IVL as well as a pickup or interface box to use the IVL pickups on some of the newer interface units, but no luck yet.
Come by the Fessenden booth in St. Louis and let's chat about it.

I sold my Steelrider to Rudy Osborne a few years ago. I had a full schematic that I intended to send to him but I can't remember if I did or not. If I didn't, I'm pretty sure I know where it is. I think Rudy is a member here. You may want to contact him. I'm headed out on a trip but if you can wait a bit let me know and we'll try to figure something out.
