After struggling with the situation of playing Dobro with a loud band, I broke down and bought the Lace Sensor. I'm actually really pleased with it, maybe because I can hear what the heck I'm playing, or trying to play. It's works well for stage monitoring while still using a mic for the house sound to retain the true resophonic tone. Does anyone else use this setup?

Yes. That is the way to go. Loud enough to hear in the monitors with no worries of feedback and good tone for the audience. Everyone wins.

Dave I've used a Don Lace on my 8 Str dobro for years.Very good on the gig or in the studio. The best pickup in my book is Bill Lawrence's dobro pickup. Unlimed volumne and super tone. I use them on all my 6 str dobros.LA

Yeah, I can't find any reference to a dobro pickup on the Lawrence website.

Dsave & Dirk- I bought several dobro pickups from Bill over the years at his booth at Scotties St. Louis steel convention. I'm on the road until May 22 then I'll be back in Alaska where I have Bill's phone number. He moved to California a few months ago. If you can e-mail him or Becky they should be able to hook you up.Good luck. la

Dave & Dirk, as far as I know Bill should still have these pickups. I have gotten several from him at Scotties show in St. Louis iver the years. Call him or Becky. If you can't get the number, I'll be off the road and back in Anchorage May 22 and can get you his phone #. LA
