Help!!!

Does anyone have a DVR? Digital video recorder. I USED to have cable. I got a DVR and within a few months, it started to malfunction. I went through 4 boxes and finally gave up in frustration and went with Direct TV and a NEW DVR. I had trouble with it the first day and it's been acting up ever since. I finally got another (refurbished) box and it's worse than the one I had. It keeps resetting itself every 20 minutes or so which interupts the program and you lose a few minutes. According to their contract, I am stuck with this for a year. I got it in Oct. Why can't they fix their equipment and am I really stuck with something that won't work properly? I also had 2 service calls. They don't have an office here, so I have to do everything by FedEX. When I mailed the bad box back the worker there said they get at least 2 returns a DAY for Direct TV. Help!
