I just picked up an lp by Lloyd Ellis called "So tall, so cool, so there!". This is another one of those underrated but great players.

I conned my brother into buying it for me for $2.50 and later found one on ebay for $130!

Does anyone know anything about him?

Tom, I have two of his old LP's on a cd. I really don't know much about him, think he was from around Phoenix?? I got the cd from a friend, who I think got it from either Lloyd himself or from someone close to Lloyd. I haven't listened to the cd recently, but it's great stuff, amazing guitar player. One of the songs is Cherokee, he plays it on an electric bass, it's just mindblowing!! I'll try and remember to dig the cd out later today and get back to this.

Hey Jussi, great to hear from you. I dig the Lester Peabody CD.

This Lloyd Ellis disc is pretty cool. I have a lot of jazz guitar Lps and came across this one by accident. There is also a "Worlds fastest guitar" Lp (CD import) that LE put out years ago too.

Thanks Tom, I didn't expect anyone here to have that cd, not to mention like it, ha-ha!!

But back to Lloyd Ellis, the other LP on the cd is the one you scored, the other one is called "Anytime, Anyplace" by Lloyd Ellis and vibes player Bill Cyrills. And a correction regarding Cherokee; the amazing electric bass solo on it is not by Lloyd but by the bass player on the album, Danny Shannon. Some incredible playing by a bunch of virtually unknown musicians. Guess I better start watching ebay for those LP's.
