Can you guys that use Utube and post videos on this site tell me if you use software to edit and post and if so what do you use? How do you convert files etc?

Dave,

In a nutshell, we use a Panasonic DV-1000 box to input the DV tape, Adobe Premiere to capture video to hard-drive, edit and export it, Sorenson Squeeze to render the video to .mpeg-4 format.

Sony PD-150 DVCAM
firewire to Mac,
into Final Cut Pro, or occasionally iMovie,
and out to a Sharp Hard disk recorder,
or an Sorenson Finalcut plug-in
for file size reduction.

Basic editing software is darned resonable thes days.
but bear in mind you use up a LOT of disk space
for your inputting PRIOR to editing,
and then more rendering to a reduced file size,
