A friend sent me this link about Stevie Ray Vaughn being interviewd in Canada a week before "Soul to Soul" came out. He plays little things here and there that are nice to see again. He admits to engaging in "cutting contests" every so often "If somebody wants to do battle, I do it every once in awhile". Warning, it's a long download.

The night before he died, he played at a blues festival at the Alpine Valley Resort. At the end of the show they had an (unrecorded!) jam with Eric Clapton, Jeff Healey, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan - at the end the only two left standing were Stevie Ray and Clapton going head-to-head, and even Eric was running scared.

"I remember being fascinated by the fact that he never, ever seemed to be lost in any way. I mean, it wasn't ever that he took a breather or paused to think where he was going next. It just flowed out of him." |

That final SRV show may not have been pro recorded, but I have a decent boot of the show/finale, and STEVIE WAS ON FIRE!
What a way to go out. |

I had the pleasure of getting to meet him when they were shooting the "Caught in the Crossfire" video. He was truly a good guy in person. |
