Dont forget some of the newer "B side" songs
like...
Don't tell Mama I was drinking by Gary Allen

and one of my favorites is "My old friend the blues" by Steve Earle

and of course anything Shania does is just plain sad......(sigh) not country but sad..

I always liked "Bringing Mary Home", along with "Little Rosa" and "City of New Orleans", but JW Day's mention of "Old Rivers", by Walter Brennan, brought back some memories, too. Red Sovine had another good one out about an old woman requesting the band to play an old song, but I can only remember a few lines...

Dan Tyack's version of Will the Circle be Unbroken (Unsanticified Gospel Revival CD) is incredible - a MUST HEAR!!!

One of my favorite songs, that I'm working on as a (so~so) instrumental is Johnny Darrell's “With Pen In Hand”! The biggest challenge is working out an ending! Johnny's version fades out, humming the melody! Hard to beat that!

You have to come to the Rodeo Bar in NYC during the holiday season to hear it. Western Caravan does a song by our singer, Thirsty Dave Hansen,called "All I'll Get This Year For Christmas is Drunk" It's a weeper, I tell ya what.
