Deborah,

Tex Williams is doing the vocal in the middle, the other vocalists (the two guys with Spade in the middle are Smokey Rogers and Deuce Spriggins), you don't see too much of te steel player, but I would say either Earl "Joaquin" Murphy or Noel Boggs, the fiddlers usually included Cactus Soldi and Rex Call, Johnny Weiss on Lead Guitar, Spike Featherstone on harp.

When Tex Williams left Spade to form his own band, he took most of the musicians with him, so Tex Williams' Western Caravan was almost identical to the Spade Cooley Orchestra.

Kind Regards, Walter

What a great clip.

This You Tube site is making a lot of priceless vintage material available. We owe whoever is behind it a big "thank you."

Does anybody know anything about the site and the people who put it up?

No idea who is behind it, but it is a great concept! I spent half a day just browsing and watching - found Skeeter Davis, Jim Reeves and lots of other vintage stuff! Image

Kind Regards, Walter

In the front porch scene, the accordionist is Frank Buckley. The fiddlers are Tiny Hunt and Rex Call. Johnny Weis on lead guitar below Spade, Smokey Rogers on Spade's right on guitar, Tex and Deuce on basses.

In the politicians' scene, the drummer is Muddy Berry.

In the rodeo dance scene, Joaquin is on steel, Smokey and Johnny on lead guitars, Muddy on drums, Eddie Bennett on piano. couldn't make out all the fiddlers.

Carolina Cotton is the yodeler in the square dance scene.

Spike Featherstone is on harp.

Walter & Herb-

How can you remember all the names so well? Guess it takes a few years of practice, huh? I am trying diligently to familiarize myself with some of the greats from the 40's and there are so few photos of many of them, I have trouble associating a name with a face. Maybe if I keep working at it, I'll be able to recognize more of these folks. Thanks to you both!
