Jeff Newman's material discusses the concept that we find some chords pleasing and others "dissonant", and in want of "resolution". This "need" is wired into our brains.
I got to thinking about what would happen if space aliens landed and were of a totally opposite psychological bent. Then I remembered that in the movie "Mars Attacks", I'm pretty sure they used music to blow the little aliens' heads up.
Does anyone remember what the music was? The IMDB (Internet movie data base) at www.imdb.com makes no mention of it. |

| It was Whitman's Indian Love Call. It also makes a great answering machine message. Jimmy Day recorded a most excellent version of this tune on Golden Steel Guitar Hits, I believe. |

Amazon.com has the soundtrack, "Indian Love Call" and "It's Not Unusual" included.  IMDB is OK, but it's not the end-all as far as movie info on the Net.

Mrs. Lee is a big Slim Whitman fan. We rented the movie and watched it together. When it came to the big scene, where they discover that "Indian Love Call" makes the Martians explode, the look on her face was priceless. I couldn't stop laughing for 15 minutes.
How I love that woman!

When I was in seventh grade there was a small combination store/gas station/cafe in the little place I lived. I know now that I drove the owner nuts because every time I got a nickel I played Indian Love Call on his jukebox. I notice there were no Martians around there.
