Well there goes one of the pillars of the Op'ry. I figure Martha White will be next. Of course Cracker Barrel could care less. You can see that when they received so many letters complaing about Pete Fisher's handling of the Op'ry and they all went into File 13. Johnny Walker and Tootsie's. Now there's a real family drawer. I would say that Trojan condoms would be the next sponsor, but the Op'ry is supposed to be about family, and Trojan prevents families, so that won't work. How about Cialis? You down a Cialis tab, have a few belts of Johnny Walker at Tootsie's and you're set for the evening. Thanks Pete Fisher. Your tireless efforts have put the Op'ry where it is today. Right down the toilet.

I'm sorry, I don't think the Opry has gone "down the toilet". There's always been good stuff and there's always been crap; maybe the "crap" today leans more towards the more modern "pop" stuff than it used to. But they still have fantastic bluegrass, have added some of the cooler but NOT popular "alt-country" acts like the Derailers and Robbie Fulks, and just last week on one portion had Marty Stuart, Patty Loveless and Charlie Pride, and of course Tommy White. So what's to bitch about really? Times change and music changes, Pete Fisher is doing his best to keep the Opry a part of the present while still keeping huge parts of the past. I don't agree with all the changes out there but it's hardly "gone down the toilet".

In my humble opinion of course, but I HAVE been playing the Opry since 1982 with a wide variety of acts (including some that even I might call "crap")

And you can still go get a "Goo-goo"

The Tue, Fri. & Sat. Opry's have been my weekly highlights for years, until the past several years. I hardly ever even think about the Opry any more and very seldom think to listen! There are just too many other useless things to take it's place!

This 1st post is so unclear and random,
I can't for the life of me,
figure what your pissed off about....????
Sorry... no backstory to allow us outisders to comprehend your insiders view.

Is it about the loss of a apropo advertiser,
or adding a new one that is not???

Who the heck is Martha White...
you don't mean Martha Stewart do you???
Or one of the White Family? (I like them.)

I am sure Trojan has helped thousands of families stay at
PRECISELY the number of children that each parent wanted,
and making nessesary expenses fit to actual family earnings.
Allowing a better life for the children they have.

Personally I think THIS is supporting family values....

Thanks John, this makes more sense now.

Who's the band picking this tune?
Flatt and Scruggs I think.

Still no clue what "pillar" ain't thar no mo'.

Edit :
Thanks to Smiley it is now clear
the "world-famous GooGoo Cluster" ...

I never saw this at GOO when I was there,
nor did I hear the Shave and a hair cut riff.
Go figure... (:
