I have been hearing quite a bit of Bobby Flores on XM's Hanks Place lately and found out quite a few of our forum brothers have played steel for and with him.
Is anyone still playing steel for him?

Bobby uses a lot of great steelers, I wish I was one of them. Look at the credits on his CD's and you'll see that Bobby himself plays great steel on some of his own songs.
Normally I would hate somebody with Bobbys'talent but he's just too nice a guy. I greatly admire and respect him as a player and a Gentleman. |

I'm just glad Bobby is being heard on XM. Yellow Rose has had an incredable track record for being in business for 2 1/2 years. |

I heard him doing a version of South of the Border on XM with a great steel solo. Who was that? |

For the most part, Bobby uses Randy Reinhard in his live performances AND in the studio. He also uses Dicky Overbey on his recordings.
On "Just For The Record", Bobby had several players....Rick Price, Herb Steiner, Jim Loesburg,Tommy Detamore, Gary Carpenter,Jerry Blanton, and Bobby him self as well as the aforementioned Reinhard and Overbey. |

I've been told by Bobby's record label partner and Forum member Al Michalzak that the intro is played on C6th....something Bobby came up with himself.I've spent some time trying to figure it out but don't have it all yet. |

The teamwork of Bobby Flores and Tommy Detamore have produced some of the best country music in the history of the genre IMHO. The boys from south Texas sure know how to crank it out. You can bet whomever Bobby and Tommy use on these CDs will be the best pickers that Texas can produce, and the results are top notch. I must also add that the production quality of these CDs are as good as any Nashville work I've heard.

Why is it that a guy with this much talent is almost a nobody outside of Texas?
I have been following country music for over thirty years and did not hear of him until XM radio.

I have been playing this music GREAT on "Swingin' West" for years. Yes, his Yellow Rose material has been on top of my charts since the label started up, only the past few years. However, Bobby has never been a stranger to my listeners with his appearance on many albums with his wonderful fiddle. My FM listeners in Connecticut and on the Internet everywhere else in the world know the many talents of Bobby Flores.

I learned about Bobby on the forum and got 1 cd Just for the Record,
It is great His singing is great and the band is full and good with lots of good steel and the steel does not override the other music. I love it. |

Bobby is a super nice humble person. Nobody has mentioned that one of Texas' best steel players is Bobby's drummer in concerts. The great Jim Loessberg. |
