Gretchen's steeler is Gaylon Matthews, who is an active member here on the forum and a fine steeler at that.

Gaylon has a web site http://gaylonmathews.com/
He's a great guy.

I recently saw the show and it was great. Gretchen loves Steel Guitar and there is a lot of it in her shows.

She's the real deal.

Joe,

Sorry, we just had the one show there last night and we are now in New York City for the Letterman show tonight. Maybe next time. I never heard from Jim. If he showed up he probably got discouraged with the crowd and left. I know I would. The area we were in only seats 6,000 people. There were 72,000 people there for the fair and most of them were trying to get in to see Gretchen. They had to call in extra police to try to control the crowds. I heard there were fights at the gate and folks getting pepper sprayed and arrested. Crazy, crazy crazy!

Gaylon, That doesn't suprise me, Your boss lady is a big hit! The buzz on the street around here in my circles is good and Everyone is ready for her new CD. I feel sorry for the inocent people that were prolly accidently cought up in a cloud of pepper spray but I'm happy for Gretchen all at the same time. I have to play tonight at the Hilton but I already set the VCR to catch the David Letterman show. I'll see ya when I get home. - Jim W.

Well, I caught the Letterman show. No pedal steel, but nice lapsteel on the one tune they got to play, "All Jacked Up". Unfortunately, when the steel player took a little ride, the cameraman apparently thought the bass player was doing it, 'cause he zoomed in on the bass player.

I was disappointed, because I can't stand Letterman or Martha Stewart, I only watched because of this thread. Buckwheat Zydeco sounded good, though!
