Just saw on Rodney's site he'll be here next month. Anybody know if he's
got a steeler in the band? If so who is it? and who else is in the band?

Rodney's steel player used to be Hank DeVitto, but I don't know if he's still in the band. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

I don't think he will have a steeler with him. But don't let that stop you from going. He will have a great lead guitar player named Will Kimbrough. Not only is Rodney a great singer/songwriter, so is Will. Will will probably come out and do some solo stuff to warm up the crowd.

Rodney's new CD is killer!

Mark, that was the setup when I saw Rodney last year. Will's a real good writer, and a great guitar player. Rodney must have been onstage 2&1/2 hours, we sure got our money's worth!

Stephen, I think that Rodney Crowell and Radney Foster are about the 2 best songwriters in country music. Guys like Rodney should be selling out arenas instead of the smaller venues he plays now. I guess it's hard for talent to compete with the pretty boys these days.

Yep, he'll stay on stage for a while, and I bet he had another 2 hours of original songs he could have done!

Rodney is my favorite songwriter. Maybe I'll meet him someday. Interesting mind.

AMEN to that, Mark! I always thought, when Radney Foster was teamed up with Bill Lloyd, that Foster was the "weaker link" in the duo---WRONG!!! Not taking anything away from Lloyd, but there's just a few like Radney, Rodney---How come Texas got so many great songwriters, anyway???

Indeed you guys are right about two great songwriters. Here's another you should check out if you get a chance Shawn Camp. He released a cd in the mid nineties, had a couple of minor hits and gave up to write songs. He's written a bunch of hits for other folks. I love hearing the writers version of his own songs. For instance "How Long Gone" didn't do much for me when I hear Brooks and Dunn sing it. But Shawns version sounds like a different song, BETTER. I hope to get to meet him someday. Check himout at shawncamp.com Or hear a bunch of his tunes at bigyellowdogmusic.com

Stephen, I'm not sure what the deal is with Texas singer/songwriters. But there are a BUNCH of them. The guy I play with is good buddies with both Rodney and Radney, and has co-written songs with them. How cool would that be, to have a co-write with either one, much less BOTH of those guys.

Townes Van Zant was a great Texas songwriter, one of my all-time favourites.
