Smiley.....

Maybe you better bid on this piece of history. I just checked and it is only $4 plus shipping. Springfield, Mass....hmmmm
isn't that your old stompin' grounds? I used to work in Phoenix with a band called the Versatiles...obviously not the same group.

That is so cool Smiley! Tell me how did they record it? Did they use bees wax on a rotating drum or one of those crank Gramaphone recorders?

Oh never mind, that was in 1960, I thought it said 1860.

My good buddy, a jazz musician, and I were walking down the street in Manhattan one day when we saw a street vendor with a bunch of ratty LPs. And there on top of the pile was my buddy's face on the jacket of his first album. He bends down to pick it up and admire it. The vendor yells "five dolla, five dolla!!" My bud says, no, no, man--that's me! The vendor pauses, then yells "four dolla, four dolla!"

I emailed the seller and pointed him at this topic. He sent me back this reply:
quote:
Hi Bobby: I went to the thread and saw some funny comments there. I didn't leave a comment there because I don't have a password, however I'm glad to bring his old artifact out from this museum (used to be called "A" Side Music Co) so you can relive some pleasant memories. I've had many local musicians come to the store when it was open but it was difficult to sell their music (unless it was Taj Mahal or Staind) so I'm glad that Smiley could sell one, even if it's 45 years later! Smile

He's still playing in Tennessee. Good luck to him and to all you guys!

Mike

Bobby Lee...you better check the center hole on that record....i hear the guy on ebay is getting rid of it because he can't play it on anything! sure hope it isn't one of those 7" records with the 8" hole smiley was trying to pedal over seas!.....
If it's the record i'm thinking of..Smiley only has about 1000 of them left..and when they're gone..they're gone!
