Again, I hope I'm wrong here too, I just heard the only reason Joe Walsh and Tim Schmidt are still around is that they agreed to be "hired guns" and Don Felder didn't. So is it just the Henley/Frey show with employees? Man, I hope not, I think that each member made MANY valid contributions to the Eagles sound. |

I would think that Henley and Frey collect songwriting royalties from each and every radio play of every song they wrote, which is where the long-term big bucks reside - Joe Walsh certain collects his for "Rocky Mountain Way"? Keith Richards says the Stones keep touring because they don't know what else to do, whether Henley and Frey or any other Eagle actually went broke is hard to say. If "There's a Hole in the World" is any indication, they're not exactly brimming over with creative fire these days. |

David, I didn't mean "hired guns" as in they needed the money. I meant they get a set fee as opposed to a percentage that a "full band member" would get. I agree 100% with you that the new material sounded very weak compared to the old stuff. |

Geez, I don't listen to anything post-Randy Meisner, preferably the stuff when Bernie Leadon was still on board.
They nailed it on the first one, actually it's a little more eccentric than the rest, a real organic record.
To think they demoed the early stuff with Buddy Emmons!

It's the old 2's company, 3's a crowd phenomenon. They each owned 1/3 interest (Frey, Henley and Felder), but Don Felder was the odd man out. We've all seen it a thousand times.
Of course, Henley and Frey HAVE been there from the beginning.
I'm hoping Felder, Leadon and Meisner will organize themselves as "The Falcons" (or something like that and start doing that great old stuff again Do you realize that both of the guitarists and the bassist from "On The Border" and "One Of These Nights" aren't in the band anymore? Phooey.

For anyone who can't stand the reto aspect of topics, go start a new topic on something new, I've heard Dwight Yoakum's new album, but he's been around since the 1980s, that must be retro, so I guess I can't review it on the forum.

I like the new stuff! I wish the radio stations played it instead of the same old Eagles songs. |

I liked the show so much, I pre-ordered the DVD. I'm sure it has even more material than the TV version had and no commercials.

Just listenig now to "SATURDAY NIGHT"...
They are just great. Who back then, or even now, would think to write
a song in 3/4 time....
I love them.......
I am an unabashed Eagles fan.
They can do NO harm......

Rick,
To quote the O'Jays,"For the love of money/you would lie to your mother/steal from your brother..." It really is a money thing it seems.
