Dunno for sure, I guess that was just Semie's idea of a getting a good tone on his guitars.
I can't but admire Deke's enthusiasm and efforts and how much things he gets done. |

So did Fender and a few others.
The Mosrite's used the same pickups for the long scale neck and the short scale neck. The string spacing on the short scale is closer, so to get the pickups pole pieces under the string you have to slant the pickup at an angle. The angle direction is more than likely the same reason as on Fender guitars.
Fender slants their bridge pickups so that the low strings have fuller tone and the high string are brighter. So the angle is with the pole pieces for the low strings closer to the neck(for a deeper tone) and the pole pieces for the high strings are closer to the bridge(for a brighter tone).
If anyone is in Vegas this weekend you could have a chance to see a few of these incredible guitars. At Viva Las Vegas, this year, "The Dave & Deke Combo" and "The Collins Kids" will be in town. So I'm sure that between Deke and Larry there will be a few necks on stage.
They are playing their sets Saturday night(I think 11 PM and 12:30 AM). I'm going to try and make it to those two shows. I'm playing with a band later that night(3AM-4AM) on another stage. |
