Just an interesting piece of trivia: "Candy Kisses", written by George Morgan, was in the country charts in 1949 in six different versions!
George Morgan reached #1, Elton Britt reached #4, Red Foley also reached #4, Cowboy Copas reached #5 and Eddie Kirk reached #9, all in the same year. To round things out, Bud Hobbs reached #12, also in 1949!
Kind Regards, Walter

I think Jerry Byrd played on the Red Foley version.

The Steel-Player on George Morgan’s record was Billy Robinson.
FYI: The Eddie Kirk version, recorded on January 21, 1949, was the recording debut for 24 year old steel player named Wesley West also know as Speedy West.I think Jerry Byrd played on the Red Foley version.
Speedy played his triple neck Bigsby pedal steel on that recording(a pedal steel recording four years before the first pedal steel recording)and started a long career with Capital Records.
[This message was edited by Alvin Blaine on 21 March 2005 at 12:11 AM.]
