I just received word that rodeo country western rocker Chris Ledoux passed away. Chris is the one directly responsible for Garth Brook's stage presentation (like it or not). My band is also patterned after him.

Wow. Sorry to hear it. I wasn't what you would call a huge fan, but I've seen many interviews conducted with him. He seemed like a no nonsense, watcha' see is watcha' get kind of guy. my heart felt condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

Very sad, only in his mid-50s. If anyone had the right to sing cowboy songs, it was Chris, a champion rodeo rider himself. His music was completely authentic and natural, something I greatly respect. We need more like him. His website bio gives this quote from a reporter: "A real country singer singing real country music. What a concept." Amen.

One of my absolute heroes. He will be dearly missed. Hopefully he will get more credit and respect now, amongst the country mainstream, than he did previously. Of course, Chris never cared about that, he had his home and family out under the western skies. A man who truly lived life on his own terms.

“So guess I’ll stay right where I’m at, wear my boots and my cowboy hat
But I’ll come and see ya once in a while
I’ll bring my guitar and sing my songs, sorry if I don’t stay too long
I love Tennessee but ya know it’s just not my style
I gotta be where I can see those Rocky Mountains
Ride my horse and watch an eagle fly
I gotta live my life and write my songs beneath these Western Skies

When I die you can bury me beneath these Western Skies, Yippee Yi”

-Western Skies, Chris LeDoux 1948-2005

Rest in peace cowboy, a job well done.
