Steve, you've GOT to be kidding, right?!?! I don't see any smiley faces. If you're talking that era, I'd take Donna Stoneman over Bessie Lee anyday, except in a fistfight. That one, Bessie would win hands down.
For the forum: Mauldin was Bill Monroe's girlfriend throughout the 50's and 60's. They might have been married. She was a big ol' gal with peroxide hair to match, and a hell of a bass player. But her "babe status" is up for debate.

Used to see her a lot when Monroe came through LA in the early-mid 60's. There was a lot of her to see, also.
My criteria for "sexy" is a woman that gives off the vibes that she's enthusiastic about doing the Wild Thing. So my current faves are Shania, Faith, Chely, and that current hottie that sings "Redneck Woman," whose name escapes me at the moment. But of course, that's what their videos are intended to portray, which is part of what destroyed country music as we used to know it. So the sexy sword has two edges to it.
