What's your favorite tuning for lap steel to play slide guitar? I've got in G and recently
I tuned one to E.

Hi Tony...I use E or one step down in D...That's the tuning that David Lindley uses the most.

Slide guitar? Isn't it still a steel guitar?

Right Chris. I refer to the term "slide" as using a glass or metal tube on a acoustic or electric guitar, clean or distorted. I can't play slide the tradional way, so I use my steel. I have a pedal,2 lap steels, a 24" electric guitar with the strings raised, a True Tone small body acoustic with the strings raised and 2 resonaters that I use and some tunings work better for this style than others. I was listening to Dan Dugmore
play slide on a couple tunes the other day.
I think he was using G tuning. To me different tunings are almost like using effects. One might sound better than another
for a certain song. I hope I made sense with this. Merry Christmas, Tony
