Has anyone used those "Stratacoustic" guitars from Fender? I am thinking of buying one. How do they sound, and are they as easy to play as the "real" Strat?

I tried one a few years ago. As I recall,
it did not cost very much and you kind of get what you pay for,if you know what I mean. just my opnion....Good luck.

Delvin, I tried one at a local store. While they don't sound or play like their solid-body counterparts (Tele and Strat), they are kinda fun, and they have enough volume for practice without using an amp. With a small amp, they sound pretty decent. A plus is that they are much smaller, and a little lighter than a standard acoustic, and easier haul in the car, and schlep around in general.

Not quite like a good acoustic or an electric, but still neat!

Thanks for the input guys. I crushed my left hand in an industrial accident about 20 years ago, put an end to my guitar playing and sold all of my guitars. Thats why I am taking up the steel now, a bum hand. But I can play my buddy's Strat without to much difficulty, I can't get my hand around a standard accoustic.

Thanks again

Just a side note,

I want the playability of the Stratacaster and the sound of an electric accoustic, if that is possible,IE slim, fast action neck. Maybe there are other guitars out there.

I played one a little the other day. It seemed like a neat guitar. I didn't plug it in but it did play pretty easily. About the same as a strat. Probably won't sound very much like an acoustic guitar with really light strings though.

Delvin, if you are playing amplified, there are a few electric (solid body) guitars with pizeo pickups in the bridge. Fender does a couple. That would give you that piezo acoustic/electric sound, if that's what you're going for.
