No steelers in this band....but does anyone like them? I think the album Southern Rock Opera is amazing songwriting. Thoughts?

I've been listening to them for a couple years now and love there stuff. I don't know which album the song "Bulldozers and Dirt" has some steel on it. When I sit and listen to that song "Three Great Alabama Icons," I just get lost thinking. Man, they are good. Have you heard Lucero yet? They are a really, really good band out of Tennessee. They have some lap steel in some of there stuff and a little dobro, but the song writing is awesome.

I love them. Their second to last album, Decoration Day, is my favorite. Last week I saw them play in San Francisco. They were definately a hard working band -- we got two encores out of them for a total of 2 hours and 35 minutes of playing. And that was back to back songs; hardly any time was spent talking or tuning between songs. (They did tune, but with 3 guitar players, they always found a section they weren't playing in to tune during.)

And they did have a bit of steel going on for a few songs. Jason Isbell (usually on guitar) had a steel out for about 3 songs. I don't think he plays the steel parts on their albums though.

What do you guys think of the new album "The Dirty South" ? The new guy is one hell of a songwriter. I love the song Danko/Manuel. It's unusual to see a rock band play with real emotion these days.
