Does anyone have a mp3 version of this song done by Merle Haggard they could email me.
The chorus has the words "have you ever been down to Colorado"etc.
I got the words off Cowpie, but could not locate this song on any of the Haggard albums.
Thanks in advance,
Don

Don,

Looks like we are getting together on different songs all the time!

The song "Colorado" was written by Dave Kirby. Merle included it on the album "The Roots Of My Raising" (Capitol ST-11586) from 1975. I only have it on vinyl at the moment, doing an MP3 takes a little while (I have to transfer from LP to CD, then to PC) - probably somebody here already has an MP3...?

Kind Regards, Walter

Thanks Walter and Janice.
I have looked for this song in the stores now for two months since I was asked to add it to the band repertoire, but with no results.

Great! Glad you got it!

Thanks, Fred! What would we all do without our biographical "mastermind" Fred Shannon!

Kind Regards, Walter

Don--I just spent two hours setting up an interface with a cassette deck and messing with my program so that I could make an mp3 of this for you. The good news is that I now have a setup for converting my tapes. The bad news is that it was in vain since Fred took care of you in the meantime. But I guess it's good news 'cause it means you have the song you've been looking so hard for. Oh well--I'll get to you quicker next time.

Jon, thanks for your effort.
It wasn't a loss as now you have a set up for future conversions.

I have the album with Colorado on it but I really want a version that was done by the bluegrass band, "The New Tradition". This was done before the "Tradition" went 100% religious and was recorded in the early 80's. MAN, the harmony and voice inflections absolutely hypnotized me.

Does anyone out there have this bluegrass version?
