Seriously, are there any links to " Rodrigo Concerto de Aranjuez"? I would like to hear a snippet to see if I recognize the piece.

Jim, to hear a bit of the Concerto de Aranjuez, go to this link and scroll down to the tracks near the middle of the webpage, and listen to the first 3 tracks. The second movement (track 2) is the most famous (and my favorite musical piece).

Cardinals!?!?!? What, some kinda bird? Oh, wait a minute, they're in that other league. What do you call it? National or something like that. The nerve of them guys, makin' pitchers bat.

Opps, better get back to music. You will enjoy the Aranjuez. Just follow the link Jim Cohen provided. The middle section Jim referred is Track 2 - Concierto de Aranjuez: Adagio. Aw heck, don't bother listening, just order it because once you have heard it you're gonna want it anyway.

Hey Jim,

Have you heard BJ Cole's version of Clair De Lune from his album 'Transparent Music'? It's a great album, somewhere between classical impressionism and Eno-esque ambient but unfortunately now out of print.

My 3 favourites (with the usual 'ask me again tomorrow & they'll be different' sub-clause) at the moment are :

1. One of the Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes by Britten (I'll take any one cos I love them all but today maybe Moonlight wins)

2. Miles Davis' version of Bye Bye Blackbird from Round Midnight with Red Garland's cool piano intro

I just happened to be looking at this thread and listening to CD mix I made. The song playing as I read your posts... You guessed it. "Concerto de Aranjuez"! What a coincidence.

The version I'm listening to features Jim Hall on guitar and I think Paul Desmond on alto sax. Great music!

I could never pick a minimum of 3 favorite songs, but "Concerto de Aranjuez" would definately be on a longer list.

I thought that guy Adagio wrote the Concierto de Aranjuez so that Miles Davis could play it on "Sketches of Spain." He seems to do OK with it, considering he used the wrong instrument.
