I know; a guitar is worth whatever the buyer pays for it.

I think I've hit upon an instrument to buy. I've been cruising the "pay library" (B & N) checking out the various guitar blue books (Vintage Guitar, one other one). However, there seems to be a significant lack of info on lap steel guitar prices.

Aside from checking out eBay (which I've done), is there any place to look to try to determine whether I would be paying an OK price?

Thanks again for your help. This forum is wonderful.

John

John, this very forum is your best source for getting accurate feedback on prices, condition, repairs, etc. If you do searches in the buy & sell section of the forum you'll have a good real-world yardstick of what various brands of guitars sold for.

Beyond the forum, regularly check the websites for ebay, Elderly Instruments, Gruhns Guitars, Mandolin Brothers, Steel Guitar Nashville & Scotty's Music. The dealers, of course, have prices considerably higher than most private sellers.
