Up until yesterday, MusicChoice had an excellent Americana channel, which I listened to/watched frequently and learned about new music early on. (Watched, too, because they provide the artist, album release date and little factoids.)
Well, they kicked the Americana channel to the curb yesterday. I am so pissed! I have the bluegrass channel on, and it is fun and all, but I miss the goddamn Americana music channel!
Still, given the misunderstanding of the "Americana" concept by most Americans, I guess I'm not suprised that someone would slam the screen door shut on 'em. But that does nothing for my anger management.
It all a wash -- Any entity that lists Randy Travis along with Johnny Cash in the category of "Classic Country" won't know American from a hill of beans.
MAN, JANICE, BEING A MODERATOR YOU ARE NOT SETTING A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE FORUM WITH YOUR LANGUAGE. YOU NEED YOUR MOUTH WASHED OUT WITH SOAP. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FAMILY FORUM. YEP I KNOW MY CAPS ARE LOCKED.

Those comments were not mine. However I thought the issue was importent since I know folks in the Americana radio organization as well as a few acts who have been high on their charts.

Thanks for the post. That was my favorite channel. It was loaded with steel. When it came up missing I went to the DirecTV website and they still had it listed. I lost one channel before and ended up having to get a new receiver.
David
so they could read about "Manson on the Hill"...
