Any recommendations as to which CD I should buy to get introduced to their music?

...and of course two of the Capitol vinyl albums that are classic Speedy & Jimmy are "2 Guitars Country Style", and "Steel Guitar".

If you want to spend some $, go to www.cdwolf.com
He carries the Bear Family label, it's a German import. They do FANTASTIC work with boxed sets, going back to the original masters, no fake stereo or any of that, and incredible LP-sized booklets full of phots, info on th eplayers, history, and recording info.
I have the Speedy box, as well as one of the Ernest Tubb (w/ Buddy Emmons + Buddy Charleton) and others- well worth the money.

Beware that they play very fast and may cause harm to your self-esteem.

I have two of their CDs in the Forum Catalog. I also have two unopened copies of "Swingin' on the Strings Vol 2." which I didn't list because I only have two copies. It has 20 songs on it. If anyone wants one, email me (first come, first serve). The price is $16, item #A-220-CD.

The two definitive single CD's are "Stratosphere Boogie" and "Swingin' on the Strings".
Speedy's version of "Lover" has to be the hottest steel instrumental ever recorded!
The box set is great, but expensive and overwhelming for a "new convert".
I'm a fan of buying a couple of single discs before I make the box set plunge, even when I know it's gonna be great.

Here's the blurb on a video I have that you may like...
"Speedy West Jimmy Bryant and Others" This tape includes 3 single song videos of Tennessee Ernie doing "classics" like "Shot Gun Boogie", a complete half hour episode of "Hometown Jamboree" with Cousin Ernie, a short film called Tennessee Ernie and Molly Bee in "Corral Cuties" All the above feature Speedy and Jimmy. Then a short movie called "Jimmy Wakely's Jamboree" with Noel Boggs, then 5 videos of "Smokey Rogers and his Cowboy Cavalcade" (in color!) Then, Merle Travis and the Travelers (with Speedy) doing 4 or 5 tunes. All together it's 2 hours of amazing classic country music from the 1950's. $15
e-mail me if you're interested.
